18-year-old Elected Mayor in USA

18-year-old Jaylen Smith has been elected the mayor of Earle, Arkansas in the United States of America.

Smith, who just graduated from high school, won the election with 218 votes against his closest rival, Nemi Matthew Snr’s 139 votes, and he has been touted by the American media as the youngest black mayor ever to be elected in the US.

Announcing his victory on Facebook, Smith said, “Citizens of Earle, Akansas, it’s official!!. I am your newly elected mayor of Earle, Arkansas…”It’s time to build a better chapter of Earle, Arkansas.” I would like to thank all my supporters for stepping up, getting people to the polls. I am truly grateful for you all, he emphasised.
