NECO Releases 2024 SSCE Results

The National Examinations Council (NECO) has announced the release of the June/July 2024 Senior School Certificate Examination results, marking a significant milestone for Nigerian students.

According to NECO Registrar, Professor Dantani Ibrahim Wushishi, 60.55% of candidates secured five credits and above in English Language and Mathematics.

This remarkable achievement is a testament to the dedication and hard work of students, teachers, and education stakeholders. A total of 1,376,423 candidates registered for the exam, comprising 706,950 males and 669,473 females.

Professor Wushishi revealed that 828,284 candidates obtained five credits and above, including English and Mathematics, representing 60.55% of the total. Furthermore, 1,147,597 candidates achieved five credits and above, irrespective of English and Mathematics, accounting for 83.90%.

The NECO boss also highlighted a notable reduction in examination malpractice. “This year’s figures indicate a 30.1% decrease in malpractice cases compared to last year, with 8,437 candidates involved in various forms of malpractice,” he stated.

However, 40 schools were found guilty of mass cheating in 17 states and will face disciplinary action. One school in Ekiti has been recommended for de-recognition due to mass cheating in two core subjects and one science subject.

Candidates can access their results on the NECO website using their examination registration number. As Professor Wushishi emphasized, “By this release, candidates can now verify their results and take the next step towards their academic and professional journey.”

This development underscores NECO’s commitment to promoting academic excellence and integrity in Nigeria’s education system.
