Kudirat kekere – Ekun Seeks Confirmation As Nation’s Chief Justice

Nigeria’s acting Chief Justice, Kudirat Kekere-Ekun, stood before the Senate today, seeking confirmation as the nation’s substantive Chief Justice.

President Bola Tinubu’s nomination, presented by Senate President Godswill Akpabio, cited Section 231(1) of the Nigerian Constitution, emphasizing the National Judicial Council’s recommendation.

During her screening, Justice Kekere-Ekun vowed to tackle corruption head-on. “I have absolutely no tolerance for corruption within the judiciary,” she emphasized.
She also addressed pre-election matters, stating, “All such cases will conclude at the Court of Appeal, ensuring timely resolution and upholding the rule of law.”
