#EndBadGovernace Movement Urges Nigerians To Join Oct 1 Protest

The #EndBadGovernance Movement has issued a call to action, urging Nigerians to join forces on October 1, 2024, to protest against the country’s economic hardship.

At a press conference held at the International Press Centre in Ogba, Lagos, the movement requested that the Lagos State Police Command provide security for peaceful protesters.

The movement’s leaders, including Hassan Taiwo (Soweto), Abiodun Aremu, and Francis Nwapa, emphasized that the protest is a response to the government’s failure to address their previous demands.

“These anti-poor policies have led to unbearable petrol prices, ranging from N900 to over N1,000 per litre,” they stated. “It’s intolerable, and we won’t stand for it.”

The protesters are demanding:

  • Reversal of fuel price hikes.
  • Reduction in food prices.
  • End to insecurity.

They reminded the police of their duty to protect peaceful protesters under the Police Establishment Act.

“The demonstration will be peaceful, and law enforcement agencies must safeguard our right to assemble,” the movement emphasized.
