Sowore Leads Oct. 1 Protest In Lagos

As Nigeria marked its 64th Independence Day, former presidential candidate Omoyele Sowore joined forces with protesters in Lagos, amplifying calls for transformative change.

Sowore, a vocal advocate for reform, arrived at the Ikeja Underbridge protest ground at 8:50 am, rallying the crowd with his message of hope and defiance.

“This is a pivotal moment in our journey to reclaim our nation,” Sowore declared. “We’re not celebrating independence; we’re fighting for our freedom from mis governance.”
He questioned the government’s accountability, citing past failures. “Have we not given them enough chances? We gave them more time, and they squandered it. They prioritized their interests over ours.”

As Nigeria navigates its complex path toward progress, the October 1 protest serves as a testament to the enduring power of citizen activism.
