HIGHSTONE Global University And NIPEM Host 7th Convocation, Matriculation Ceremony

Lagos, Nigeria, In a grand ceremony, HIGHSTONE Global University (HGU) Texas, USA, and the NIPEM Professional Education Management International celebrated their 7th convocation and matriculation, marking a significant milestone in the academic journey of numerous students.

Under the theme “Insecurity and Cybercrime: Implications for National Development,” esteemed speakers, including NIPEM President Professor Maurice Azubike Odiete, emphasized the pressing need for Nigeria’s government to tackle insecurity and cybercrime.

“Insecurity and cybercrime have become pervasive, stifling economic growth and development,” Professor Odiete stated. “Kidnappings, banditry, and terrorist attacks have created an environment where investors are hesitant to invest, hindering Nigeria’s progress as the giant of Africa.”

Professor Odiete also expressed concerns regarding the federal government’s decision to dismiss workers with degrees from universities in Benin Republic and Togo. He suggested an alternative approach, urging the government to collaborate with educational agencies to monitor and enhance the standards of these institutions.

“Such a policy could have dire consequences, potentially driving affected individuals to illegal activities,” Professor Odiete cautioned. “Instead, the government should focus on ensuring the quality of education, rather than jeopardizing the livelihoods of thousands.”
