The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has declared Mr. Lucky Aiyedatiwa, the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), as the winner of the Ondo State governorship election, marking a significant moment in the state’s political history.
Aiyedatiwa swept all 18 local government areas, including his home base in Ese Odo, securing a commanding 366,781 votes. His closest rival, Agboola Ajayi of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), trailed far behind with 117,845 votes.
This decisive victory underscores the APC’s stronghold in Ondo State and Aiyedatiwa’s widespread appeal.

“Having satisfied the requirements of the law, I hereby declare Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa of the APC as the duly elected governor,” announced Prof. Olayemi Akinwumi, the State Returning Officer, at the collation center in Akure on Sunday.
The declaration sparked jubilant celebrations across the state capital and beyond, with supporters hailing Aiyedatiwa’s leadership and vision.
Aiyedatiwa, a 59-year-old seasoned businessman and politician, has promised to focus on infrastructure development, youth empowerment, and economic revitalization.
A former deputy governor and acting governor, Aiyedatiwa’s administrative experience is widely acknowledged. He brings a wealth of expertise, having led various businesses, including Blue Wall Group, before joining politics in 2011.
His track record in governance and private enterprise is expected to drive his ambitious reform agenda for Ondo State.
