Lagos State Deputy Governor, Obafemi Hamzat, has highlighted the pivotal role of the media in fostering governance and sustainable development. Speaking at a Breakfast Chat with journalists, Hamzat described the press as “nation builders,” vital for shaping public perception and fostering citizen engagement.
“The media’s role transcends reporting; they shape narratives, influence public opinion, and drive national development,” Hamzat said. He called for balanced reporting, urging journalists to focus on developmental issues while maintaining constructive criticism.
Hamzat stressed the importance of collaboration, particularly in communicating government initiatives to tackle Lagos’ pressing challenges. “Lagos faces rising water levels, extreme rainfall, and heat.
