Belgium’s Nafissatou Thiam, a two-time Olympic champion in the heptathlon, broke the pentathlon world record with 5,055 points on Friday at the European Indoor Championships in Istanbul, Turkey.
Thiam beat Polish silver medalist Adrianna Sulek, who scored 5,014 points to surpass the previous world record set by Ukraine’s Nataliya Dobrinska in 2012 (5,013 points).
After running 8.23m in the 60m hurdles and clearing 1.92m in the high jump, Thiam achieved a personal best of 15.54m in the shot put and 6.59m in the long jump.

In the 800 meters, the 28-year-old clocked 2:13.60, which means she broke the record by a total of 5,055 points.
Noor Vidts joined her Belgian teammate on the podium, taking bronze with a score of 4.823.
