Fubara Admits His Full Governance in Rivers Took Off in February, Despite Earlier Swearing-In

Governor Siminalayi Fubara of Rivers State has publicly acknowledged that full-scale governance on his part only commenced this February, notwithstanding his official swearing-in ceremony which took place in May of the previous year.

This declaration was made during the official launch of internal road infrastructure within Egbeda, located in the Emohua Local Government Area.

Fubara emphasized his administration’s achievements over the past few months, which have attracted positive feedback from the state’s residents.

Although he did not delve into specifics about the delay in engaging with governance activities, it’s known that Fubara faced a contentious political struggle with his forerunner, Nyesom Wike.

Notably, in the previous year, he thwarted an attempt to oust him that was backed by pro-Wike assembly members. Additionally, he dealt with the resignations of cabinet officials allied with Wike and managed the resulting factions within the state legislature, which exacerbated state tensions.

At the recent event, Fubara vowed to continue prioritizing the execution of quality projects across Rivers State.

He stated, “Just beginning our governance stride, I guarantee further focus on development. The accomplishments within these four months have echoed praise, preempting the progressive transformation of Rivers State as we advance.”

Fubara confidently projected the changes expected for the state, “With full governance initiated only in February 2024, we’ve boldly stepped forward. The response received asserts our people’s satisfaction with our direction.”

Reassuring his commitment to a transparent government, Fubara pointed to the meticulous records kept as evidence of his actions, emphasizing accountability and the importance of record-keeping in his role.

He assured, “My administration’s actions are meticulously documented. At any time, I am prepared to showcase the records of our activities, reflecting decisions made strictly on regulation and approval. Transparency and adherence to official procedure guide our governance.”
