President Tinubu Decides Not To Celebrate One-Year Presidential Anniversary

Nigeria’s Information Minister, Mohammed Idris, has announced that President Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu has opted out of any celebratory events to mark his first year as the country’s leader.

The announcement came during a media briefing yesterday, Wednesday, where Idris highlighted the administration’s intentions for a subdued commemoration.

Reflecting President Tinubu’s dedication to national service and economic prudence, the government plans to focus on the responsible use of state resources for the benefit of all Nigerians, rather than elaborate celebrations.

The Information Minister shared, “The administration will hold a quiet observance. Celebratory events are not planned. Instead, there will be departmental presentations by various ministries.” The approach is consistent with President Tinubu’s policy of resource efficiency, aimed at enhancing public services.

Idris further mentioned the president’s directive for open and regular communication, urging the media to uphold integrity and patriotism in their reporting. The aim is to keep the populace well-informed while also maintaining government transparency.

“The importance of media in society is twofold: to keep the community informed and to ensure government accountability.
The Ministry of Information and National Orientation thus continues to prioritize regular briefings and updates on the actions of the federal government,” said Idris.
