President Tinubu Set To Dismiss Inactive Ministers

Bayo Onanuga, the President’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, has revealed that Nigeria’s President, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, has plans to remove any ministers from office who are not meeting the performance benchmarks established by the administration.

During a recent interview, Onanuga emphasized that the President is in the process of assessing the ministers’ accomplishments relative to his eight-point agenda. Ineffective ministers who are unable to achieve the prescribed goals are at risk of being relieved of their duties.

The adviser assessed the current administration’s performance positively, citing a commendable 70% efficacy despite the pre-existing economic difficulties passed down from Muhammadu Buhari’s governance.

Onanuga pointed out the financial quandary faced under the previous rule, where an overwhelming 97% of the national revenue was funneled into debt servicing, necessitating borrowing for even routine expenditures.

He stressed the key actions taken by President Tinubu, namely the removal of fuel subsidies and the unification of the exchange rate, as critical moves that steered the Nigerian economy away from possible ruin.

In conclusion, recalling Tinubu’s inauguration speech last year, where he formally instated 48 ministers and officials, the President cautioned his appointees to uphold the nation’s interests and dedicate their service to the overarching goal of propelling Nigeria out of poverty.
