President Tinubu Plans To Present 2024 Budget To NASS

President Bola Tinubu is preparing to introduce the 2024 Supplementary Budget before the National Assembly (NASS), aiming to make further provisions for the nation’s expenditures.

During his address to a joint session of the National Assembly on Wednesday, on the occasion of the 25th anniversary of Nigeria’s 4th Republic, the President remarked, “I submitted the last budget to you, and it was swiftly passed. Now, we progress to the next, the Year 2024 Supplementary Appropriation Bill, which I will present shortly.”

Senate President Godswill Akpabio welcomed the announcement, expressing readiness to review the additional budget, stating, “We await the Supplementary Appropriation Bill of 2024 with great anticipation.”

At this landmark joint session, which also marked the first year of the Tinubu administration, the President affirmed the adoption of ‘Nigeria, we hail thee’ as the country’s renewed national anthem.

Highlighting the amalgamation of the nation’s diversity, President Tinubu observed, “The latest national anthem you played today, ‘Nigeria, we hail thee’, beautifully epitomizes our unity in diversity, our collective narrative.”

Calling for a continued spirit of cooperation between the legislative and executive branches, President Tinubu stressed the critical need for unity in the quest for sustained national advancement and prosperity.

“It is our collective duty to our motherland, to stand united in developing Nigeria not just for the present, but also for the generations that follow,” he asserted.

The President’s statement follows his signature on the N28.7 trillion 2024 Appropriation Bill earlier in the year, on January 1, 2024, a budget that was scaled up by N1.2 trillion from the original proposal presented to the NASS on November 29, 2023.
