S/A Elections: IEC Releases Result Amidst Technical Obstacles

The Results Operation Centre (ROC) of the Independent Electoral Commission (IEC) has officially revealed the outcomes of the 2024 National Provincial Elections (NPE) conducted in South Africa. The significant announcement was made on Sunday, 2 June 2024, in Midrand, South Africa, amidst a backdrop of technical concerns and contestations from various political factions.

Technical and System-Related Challenges

The electoral body encountered objections from political parties over alleged irregularities in the process of capturing election results. Additionally, there were reports of technological glitches experienced by the IEC’s systems last Thursday. Despite these hurdles, IEC chairperson Mosotho Moepya assured stakeholders that these incidents did not substantially impact the final election results.
