Nigerian Senate Confirms Appointment Of Agama As Director General Of SEC

In a significant development, the Nigerian Senate has ratified the appointment of Emomotimi John Agama, hailing from Bayelsa State, as the Director-General of the Security and Exchange Commission (SEC).

Additionally, the Senate validated the appointments of three other individuals as full-time commissioners. The appointees include Samiya Hassan Usman representing Kano State; Abimbola Oyebola Ajomale from Ogun State; and Frana Chukwuogor of Enugu State.

This series of confirmations came subsequent to the Senate Committee on Capital Market’s presentation of its findings. Senator Osita Izunaso, chair of the committee, reported on their evaluation during a session on Thursday.

The Deputy Senate President, Senator Barau Jibrin, administered the annonuncement of these appointments. He remarked on the appointees’ distinguished qualifications, as evidenced by their rigorous screening process, underscoring the Senate’s confidence in their capability to fulfill their designated roles effectively.
