President Tinubu Declares Argungu As New Chair Of Police Commission

President Bola Tinubu has declared retired Deputy Inspector General Hashimu Argungu as the new chairperson for the Police Service Commission (PSC), appointing him as the succeeding figure to Arase, the former chair named by past President Muhammadu Buhari.

The announcement came from Ajuri Ngelale, the presidential spokesperson, who also disclosed the nomination of Chief Onyemuche Nnamani to fulfill the role of Secretary and retired DIG Taiwo Lakanu as a Commission member, both pending Senate approval.

The statement suggested that additional roles within the PSC are to be filled soon, pointing towards an ongoing augmentation of the Commission’s leadership. Moreover, Tinubu has instituted Mr. Mohammed Sheidu as the Executive Secretary of the Nigeria Police Trust Fund (NPTF), effective immediately, situating him in a pivotal role for progressing the trust fund’s mission.

With these strategic appointments, President Tinubu has signaled his intent to reinforce the key institutions responsible for upholding law and order, expecting the newfound leadership to align with the traits of integrity, commitment, and patriotism for the collective betterment of the Nigeria Police and the nation as a whole.
