Top 10 African Havens of Peace Amidst Global Conflict Surge

The Global Peace Index (GPI) has recently disclosed in a report the increase in global tensions, with the world witnessing the most conflicts since the close of World War II, a total of 56 conflicts across 92 nations.

The escalation of minor skirmishes indicates the possibility of more severe wars emerging, much like the situations in Ethiopia, Ukraine, and Gaza which escalated from minor conflicts in 2019 into major confrontations.

In the face of global peace deterioration and with West Africa ranked just above the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region as the least peaceful, the African continent still lays claim to several tranquil nations.

Leading the pack is Mauritania, which is ranked 22nd on the global peace scale. Madagascar, Botswana, Ghana, and Zambia follow, holding positions 44, 50, 55, and 57 respectively.

The list is rounded out by Namibia, Tanzania, Sierra Leone, Liberia, and Angola, completing Africa’s top 10 exemplars of peace.
