MK Party Legislators In South Africa To Take Oaths Today

Today, Tuesday, June 25, fifty-eight members of parliament affiliated with the uMkhonto weSizwe (MK) party, established by former President Jacob Zuma, are scheduled to take their oaths. These lawmakers had previously abstained from the swearing-in and subsequent election of the speaker and president on June 14.

South Africa’s Chief Justice, Raymond Zondo, is anticipated to oversee the ceremony while Thoko Didiza, the parliament’s Speaker, administers the oath of office. This formal process is a prerequisite for lawmakers before they commence their legislative duties.
