FCT Police Commissioner Orders Crack Down Of Unregistered Vehicles

The Commissioner of Police for the Federal Capital Territory, Benneth Igweh, has issued strict orders to crack down on vehicles in Abuja lacking proper license plates. The directive includes impounding such vehicles and apprehending their drivers, as well as taking action against car dealers who unlawfully park or drive their vehicles outside permitted hours.

According to police spokesperson Josephine Adeh, the aim of these orders is to rigorously enforce the law, particularly due to concerns that vehicles with single or no plates may be associated with criminal activities like “one chance” robberies.

The directive underscores the link between vehicles with improper plates and criminal incidents, urging strict adherence to the law for the safety and security of FCT residents.
