Manchester United has reportedly tabled a “five-year contract offer” to Bayern Munich defender Matthijs de Ligt, according to Sky Germany.
There is said to be “strong mutual interest” in the potential transfer, with De Ligt showing “keenness to join Manchester United”.
The Red Devils’ interest in De Ligt has led to “initial talks” with Bayern, a promising sign that a potential deal could be on the horizon. Erik ten Hag, who has previously worked with De Ligt at Ajax, wants him to be part of his squad at Old Trafford next season.
De Ligt is valued at “€50m (£42.4m) including add-ons”.
Manchester United is also interested in Jarrad Branthwaite but will only “reconsider their approach” if Everton lowers their asking price.
