The father of Hammed Ayinla Fabiyi, a final-year student at Tai Solarin University (TASUED) who was lynched, has refuted police claims that his son was a cult member.
Musibau Fabiyi, in an interview with TheCable, described his son as an official with TASUED’s student body and not a cultist. He believes his son’s murder may be related to his efforts to expose misappropriation of funds within the student union, rather than cultism.

“Hammed was not a member of any cult. I haven’t even seen him with any dangerous item before,” the grieving father said. “He was a student union executive and had been threatening to expose a leader’s involvement in misappropriating funds. That’s where the problem lies.”
Fabiyi’s account contradicts the police report, which stated that Hammed was a member of the Eiye cult group and was attacked by a rival group, Aye. The father’s testimony raises questions about the true circumstances surrounding his son’s tragic death.
