NNPC Moves To Address Fuel Scarcity, Boosts Supply, Urges Stations To Extend Hours Of Operation

In a bid to address the lingering fuel scarcity and queues in various parts of the country, the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) has taken a proactive step by directing fuel stations to “operate longer hours to enhance petrol supply and distribution”.

According to Mr. Dapo Segun, Executive Vice President of Downstream, “We are getting fuel stations to run for longer hours” to boost petrol availability and alleviate the challenges faced by motorists.

“Recent thunderstorms had “disrupted ship-to-ship fuel transfers, affecting berthing and logistics” leading to queues in some regions.

To tackle this, NNPCL has “extended the turnaround period for PMS trucking” and is collaborating with the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA) to “jointly monitor fuel supply and distribution nationwide”.

By operating extended hours, fuel stations will “increase petrol availability” reducing the burden on motorists.

NNPCL is also encouraging marketers to “share stocks and collaborate” to ensure a seamless distribution process. With these measures in place, the company is committed to “restoring normalcy to the fuel supply chain” ensuring that motorists can access fuel without hassle.
