Yobe Govt. Suspends Machina LGA Chairman For Insurbodination

In a swift move to maintain discipline and accountability in the state’s local government administration, Yobe State Governor Mai Mala Buni has suspended the Chairman of Machina local government council, Idrissa Bukar-Machina, for “acts of misconduct and insubordination”.

According to a statement from the Office of the Secretary to the State Government, Baba Mallam-Wali, the suspension takes immediate effect, and Bukar-Machina has been directed to hand over the affairs of the local government to the vice chairman pending further directives.

This decision comes just four weeks after Bukar-Machina was elected and sworn in alongside other sixteen council chairmen, signaling a zero-tolerance stance by the governor against any form of misconduct or insubordination in the state’s local government administration.

The governor’s action is in line with Section 2 of the Local Government Law (as amended) 2019, which empowers him to suspend or remove any local government official for misconduct or non-compliance with the law.

By taking this decisive step, Governor Buni has demonstrated his commitment to upholding the highest standards of discipline, accountability, and good governance in Yobe State’s local government administration.
