SSANU, NASU Members Clash With Security Personnel During Protest In Abuja

In a dramatic turn of events, members of the Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities (SSANU) and the Non-Academic Staff Union of Universities (NASU) clashed with security personnel during a protest in Abuja.

The protest, led by SSANU President Mohammed Aruna Ibrahim and NASU General Secretary Comrade Peters Adeyemi, was sparked by the nonpayment of salaries for the past four months.

The protesters, assembled at the Unity Fountain, expressed their outrage and frustration over the delay in receiving their salaries, highlighting the disparity in treatment compared to members of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), who have already been paid.

As the protest unfolded, a confrontation ensued when security personnel attempted to prevent the protesters from dispersing, leading to a tense standoff. The situation remains fluid, with more developments expected to unfold in the coming hours.

The protest underscores the growing discontent among university staff, who are demanding prompt payment of their salaries and an end to the perceived discrimination in treatment.

The clash with security personnel serves as a stark reminder of the escalating tensions and the need for a swift resolution to the crisis.
