Wike Reveals Motives Behind Proposed Nation Wide Protest

In a candid discussion with journalists, Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Neysom Wike, exposed the underlying political motives driving the planned protests against President Bola Tinubu’s administration.

Wike emphasized that Nigeria is indeed in a state of disarray, but the expectations for miraculous solutions within a short timeframe are unrealistic.

Wike criticized Nigerians for their impatience, saying, “The country is rotten… You know that the country is rotten, and a government has just come to see what it can do to at least move it from where we are to a certain level, and you say that miracle must be performed within one year.” He highlighted the example of the Karshi to Apo Road construction project, awarded 13 years ago, yet still incomplete.

Wike attributed the dissatisfaction among Nigerians to hunger and unemployment, but clarified that the Tinubu-led administration is not responsible for the current unemployment rate. He assured that the government is working to address these issues, but it requires time.

Wike dismissed the planned protests as political gimmicks, stating, “The protest is a political protest… Just know that the government is a serious government and working to solve the problem. We believe that things will turn around, but we should be patient with the government.”

With elections approaching, Wike warned against political jobbers seeking popularity through criticism.
