Peter Obi Stands by Okonkwo, Calls Him An Ally Amid Criticism

In a display of leadership and unity, Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s presidential candidate, has reaffirmed his alliance with Kenneth Okonkwo, the party’s former spokesperson, despite Okonkwo’s recent criticism of Obi’s leadership style.

Okonkwo, who joined the Labour Party in 2022, had expressed concerns about Obi’s handling of party matters, citing neglect of internal turmoil and ineffective leadership.

However, Obi has chosen to view Okonkwo’s critique as a valuable contribution rather than a personal attack.

In a statement on his X handle, Obi emphasized that Okonkwo’s differing views do not make him an adversary, but rather a “formidable voice and a friend.”

Obi praised Okonkwo’s loyalty and commitment, stating, “Kenneth Okonkwo has stood by me through thick and thin, and his loyalty and commitment cannot be overstated or diminished.”

Obi urged his supporters to refrain from disparaging Okonkwo, promoting a message of unity and resilience in the face of disagreement.

By standing by Okonkwo, Obi has demonstrated his commitment to fostering a culture of open dialogue and constructive criticism within the Labour Party.
