Police In Abuja Fire Teargas At Protesters

In a dramatic escalation of the ongoing protests against economic hardship and inflation, Nigerian police fired teargas at demonstrators in Abuja today.

The protesters, undeterred by a court order restricting their gathering to the MKO Abiola stadium, took to the streets near the federal secretariat, prompting a fierce response from security forces.

As the nationwide demonstration, dubbed “10 days of rage,” gained momentum, the police presence became increasingly heavy-handed.

Despite the court ruling, obtained by Nyesom Wike, Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, protesters refused to be confined to the designated area, engaging police in a heated argument.

“We will not be silenced,” declared one protester, echoing the sentiments of many.

“We demand action, not words.”

The situation remains tense, with security forces on high alert to prevent further escalation.

As the protests continue, one thing is clear: the people will not be ignored.
