Kano Protesters Storm FG’s ICT Park, Looting, Vandalising Items

In a shocking escalation of the #EndBadGovernance protests, the Kano ICT Park, a state-of-the-art facility owned by the Nigeria Communication Commission (NCC), has been vandalized and looted by rampaging demonstrators.

The park, which was on the verge of being commissioned, was intended to serve as a hub for ICT innovations and startups in the northwest region, fostering economic growth and development.

The Minister of Communications, Innovation, and Digital Economy, Bosun Tijani, expressed deep sorrow and disappointment over the incident, lamenting the loss of millions of Naira and the significant setback to the country’s technological advancement.

“It’s devastating to see our Digital Innovation Park in Kano, which was set to launch next week, being destroyed and looted by protesters,” he said.

“This facility was meant to support our technical talent accelerator and host our buildathon holiday maker program for secondary school kids.

The loss is immeasurable, and it’s a huge step backward for our nation’s progress.”

The destruction of the ICT Park has sparked widespread condemnation, with many calling for peaceful and constructive dialogue to address the nation’s challenges.

The incident has raised concerns about the safety of critical infrastructure and the need for protesters to find alternative channels to express their grievances without resorting to violence and destruction.
