The Minister of Sports Development, Senator John Enoh, has expressed disappointment over Team Nigeria’s failure to secure any medals at the ongoing 2024 Olympics in Paris.
Describing the performance as a “Paris disaster,” the minister acknowledged that the issue goes beyond the Olympics and requires immediate attention.
Senator Enoh revealed that he would ensure that the forthcoming sports federation elections bring in the most eligible candidates to lead the various sports federations.

He emphasized the need for thorough scrutiny of aspirants to prevent a repeat of the disappointing performance.
The minister also clarified that the ministry had provided adequate financial and logistical support to the athletes, but the performance did not yield any podium finishes.
He vowed to reform the leadership and effectiveness of Nigeria’s sports federations to enhance performance on the global stage.
This development highlights the need for a comprehensive review of Nigeria’s sports administration and development programs to ensure better outcomes in future international competitions.
