In a significant development, Pastor Kayode Pitan has been appointed as the new pastor of the City of David Parish, Lagos, of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG).
This move follows the suspension of Pastor Idowu Iluyomade and the interim leadership of Pastor Charles Kpandei.
According to Church Times Nigeria, Pitan’s appointment was formalized by the RCCG’s governing council during the recently concluded convention.

He brings a wealth of experience to his new role, having served as Pastor in Charge of the Tabernacle of David in Region 51 and Regional Pastor.
Pitan’s corporate background is expected to enhance the effective management of the Trinity Tower project and the overall leadership of the City of David parish.
He will oversee Region 20, with the City of David serving as its headquarters, while Pastor Ben Akabueze will assume the role of Assistant Pastor in Charge of Region 20.
Pitan’s journey to his new position is marked by his extensive experience in banking and finance.
He worked at Citi Bank before establishing his own finance house, which unfortunately collapsed in 1993. This setback led him to deepen his Christian faith.
He later served as the Managing Director and CEO of the Bank of Industry (BoI) from July 2015, focusing on industrialization and SME support.
With his appointment, Pitan marks the end of Iluyomade’s tenure at the City of David parish.
As he begins his new role, he is expected to bring strategic impact and leadership to the parish.
