Prof. Joseph Ayodele Becomes VC Of Ekiti State University

In a move aimed at further elevating the academic and administrative standards of Ekiti State University, Ado-Ekiti, Governor Biodun Oyebanji has announced the appointment of Professor Joseph Babatola Ayodele as the institution’s new Vice Chancellor.

This appointment, which takes effect from August 20, 2024, marks a significant milestone in the university’s history, as Prof. Ayodele brings a wealth of experience and expertise to the helm of affairs.

Prof. Ayodele, a distinguished Professor of Education Management, has had a illustrious career spanning over two decades, during which he has served the university in various capacities.

His appointment as Vice Chancellor is a testament to his exceptional leadership qualities, academic excellence, and commitment to the growth and development of the institution.

As the outgoing Vice Chancellor, Prof. Edward Olanipekun, prepares to hand over the reins on August 19, 2024, Governor Oyebanji has expressed his gratitude for his meritorious service to the university.

The Governor has also urged Prof. Ayodele to leverage his vast experience as an academic and administrator to reposition the university as a world-class institution of learning.

Prof. Ayodele’s academic journey began at Annunciation School, Ikere-Ekiti, where he obtained his primary education.

He then proceeded to the Ondo State College of Education, Ikere-Ekiti, for his Nigeria Certificate in Education.

His thirst for knowledge led him to the Ondo State University (now Ekiti State University), Ado-Ekiti, where he earned a First Class Bachelor of Education degree in Economics in 1992.

He further obtained a Master’s degree in Education Management from the University of Ibadan in 1997 and a Doctor of Philosophy in Education Management from the same university in 2000.

Throughout his career, Prof. Ayodele has demonstrated exceptional leadership skills, serving as Assistant Director, Affiliate Programmes; Acting Head, Department of Educational Foundations and Management; Dean, Faculty of Education; Director, Directorate of Continuing Education Programmes/Distance Learning; and Deputy Vice Chancellor (Academic).

His appointment as Vice Chancellor is a well-deserved recognition of his dedication and commitment to the university’s growth and development.
