NYSC Demobilses 54 Illegally Approved Graduates Of Unical

In a bid to maintain the integrity of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) program, the Management of NYSC has demobilized 54 illegally mobilized graduates of the University of Calabar (UNICAL).

This move aims to prevent the award of Certificates of National Service to unqualified individuals.

The Director-General of NYSC, Brigadier-General Yusha’u Ahmed, revealed that 19 of the affected individuals had initially registered online for mobilization but were prevented from participating in the service.

Additionally, four Certificates of National Service were not produced by the Scheme for other culprits.

This development comes on the heels of the NYSC’s earlier invalidation of certificates for 101 illegally mobilized UNICAL graduates who participated in the scheme between 2021 and 2023.

The Pro-Chancellor of UNICAL, DIG Udom Ekpoudom (retd.), commended the NYSC for exposing the fake graduates and pledged to take action against staff involved in the mobilization of fake graduates.

The NYSC DG praised the Vice-Chancellor of UNICAL, Professor Florence Obi, for reporting the illegal mobilizations and hinted at a broader collaboration with Heads of Corps Producing Institutions to curb the menace.

Ahmed emphasized the importance of integrity in the mobilization process and urged employers to verify the authenticity of Certificates of National Service presented by job applicants.
