NLC President Ajaero Faces Another Police Summons Amidst Labour Struggle

In a continued show of force, the police have summoned Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) President Joe Ajaero and General Secretary Emma Ugboaja to appear at the Force Headquarters on September 5, 2024.

This latest invitation comes on the heels of Ajaero’s previous appearance on August 29, where he faced allegations of criminal conspiracy, terrorism financing, treasonable felony, subversion, and cybercrime.

The fresh summons, signed by Commissioner of Police Ibitoye Alajide, requests Ajaero and Ugboaja’s presence for questioning over alleged criminal intimidation, conducts likely to cause a breach of public peace, and malicious damage to property.

Ajaero, undeterred by the repeated summonses, remains resolute in his commitment to defending workers’ rights. He has dismissed the allegations as baseless and an attempt to intimidate the labour movement.
