Court Grants Wheelchair To Detained Binance CEO On Health Grounds

In a dramatic turn of events, Tigran Gambaryan, the detained Binance Holdings Limited executive, has secured a crucial victory in his fight for adequate medical care.

Justice Emeka Nwite of the Federal High Court in Abuja has ordered the officials of the Kuje correctional facility to provide Gambaryan with a wheelchair, acknowledging his deteriorating health condition.

Gambaryan, who has been living with a herniated disc for 12 years, lamented to the court that his condition has worsened due to the lack of proper medical attention at the facility.

“My health has continued to deteriorate. I can’t move without assistance and was crying as I made my way here this morning,” he said, his voice filled with pain and desperation.

His counsel, Mark Mordi, SAN, emphasized the urgency of the situation, stating, “My client’s health is deteriorating.

We request that the court order the prison officials to provide a wheelchair.”

However, prosecution counsel Ekele Iheanacho countered, “The defendant is exaggerating his illness.

The Office of the National Security Adviser has provided a copy of Gambaryan’s health record, which shows that his condition is not as serious as claimed.”

Despite this, Justice Nwite sided with Gambaryan, ordering the prison officials to provide a wheelchair to alleviate his suffering.

The court also adjourned the case until September 4 to continue the trial, which involves money laundering charges to the tune of $35 million brought by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission.

Gambaryan’s plight highlights the need for adequate medical care for detainees and the importance of the court’s intervention in protecting their rights.

As he wheels out of the courtroom, Gambaryan’s hope for a fair trial and proper medical attention has been rekindled.
