The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has issued a stern reminder to media organizations, emphasizing that the accreditation portal for the Edo State governorship election will close tonight at midnight, with no plans for an extension.
According to the National Commissioner and Chairman of the Information and Voter Education Committee, Sam Olumekun, “The deadline is sacrosanct. There will be no extension of time while unaccredited media organisations will not be allowed to observe voting in the field or collation of results at the various centres.”
With the accreditation portal closing imminently, media organizations are urged to act quickly to ensure their participation in the upcoming election.

As of now, 113 media organizations have registered 865 journalists to cover the election.
The commission’s statement read, “In continuation of our preparation for the Edo State Governorship Election, the Commission wishes to remind all media organisations interested in the accreditation of their personnel that the portal closes tomorrow at midnight.”
Journalists and media organizations must act swiftly to avoid being excluded from observing the voting process and collation of results. The clock is ticking, and the deadline is fast approaching.
