Ekiti Gov. Unveils Work-From-Home Policy For Civil Servants

In a bid to cushion the effects of the current economic situation on workers in Ekiti State, Governor Biodun Oyebanji has approved a work-from-home policy for civil servants.

The new arrangement, which commences on September 9, 2024, aims to promote work-life balance and reduce the burden of commuting on workers.

According to the governor’s Special Adviser on Media, Yinka Oyebode, “The arrangement is aimed at further cushioning the effect of the current economic situation on workers in the state.”

The policy excludes essential workers like teachers, core health workers, and security personnel, among others.

Under the new arrangement, officers on levels 01-07 will work from home three days a week, officers on levels 08-12 will work from home two days a week, and officers on levels 13-17 will work from home once a week.

Each government agency is expected to present a sustainable schedule for the new policy, which must not affect the effectiveness of the workers.

The governor’s aide emphasized that the arrangement will be in place for two months and is subject to periodic review in line with prevailing circumstances.

The policy is part of the state government’s efforts to enhance workers’ productivity and welfare, in addition to other palliative measures such as monthly wage awards and free bus services.
