DSS Arrests NLC President Ajaero

In a shocking turn of events, Joe Ajaero, the President of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), was arrested by the Department of State Services (DSS) at Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja. Ajaero was en route to London to attend a crucial Trade Union Congress conference when he was detained by DSS officers.

The NLC has vehemently condemned the arrest, describing it as an “assault on Nigerian workers.” In a statement, the NLC said, “The assault on Nigerian workers continues.

President of the NLC, Joe Ajaero, was arrested and abducted by men of the DSS at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja, this morning on his way to attend an official engagement of TUC United Kingdom, and he is now detained at the office of the NSA. This intimidation and assault must stop!!!”

Ajaero’s arrest is not an isolated incident, as he had previously been invited by the police for questioning over allegations of terrorism financing, cybercrime, subversion, criminal conspiracy, and treasonable felony. The NLC has denied these allegations, stating that they are baseless and aimed at silencing the voice of Nigerian workers.

The arrest of Ajaero has sparked widespread outrage, with many calling for his immediate release and an end to the harassment of labour leaders.

As the situation unfolds, Nigerians await a response from the presidency and demand an end to the unlawful detention of Ajaero.
