Inappropriate Behaviours, Vices Responsible For Decadence In Society —Nwakwesi

Ngozi Okpala

The high level of decadence in the society has been attributed to inappropriate behaviours and vices perpetrated by some individuals in the country.

Growth Mindset and Integrative Lifestyle coach, Dr. Ifeyinwa Nwakwesi who stated this in a statement she signed and made available to African Future Leadership Magazine also regretted that many in the society profess their faith in words and societal proof but not in their actions and behaviours.

Explaining further, the medical practitioner said: “We take church and mosque attendance as proof of our faith. Some of our lives do not reflect authentic Christianity or Islamic faith.”

“Our parenting and educational curriculum are focused primarily on formal certifications. We do not emphasise training in knowledge, strategies and skills for building true success that add value to the society in an impactful way.”

“We fail to see the integrative nature of our beings. We see our spiritual, mental, emotional and physical beings as separate entities. We do not focus on the interconnectedness of different aspects of our lives’’.

To Nwakwesi, the church and the mosques preach mostly about spiritual well-being,adding that many church and mosque goers did not acquire training on how to live with positive mindset and attitude.”

Explaining further she said: “Many are in bondage of negative thoughts which keep them paralysed and they are not able to fulfill their purpose.”

“They make some decisions and choices which lead to different life challenges.”

“They begin to blame others and refuse to take responsibility for the choices they make. In fact we have so many spiritual, mental and emotional immature spouses no wonder the high incidence of marital challenges in our society.’’

On the importance of leaders to acquire leadership skills, she said: “leadership challenge is a long term one. Many politicians may not have acquired leadership skills before going into leadership. It is difficult to offer capable and competent leadership without the requisite tools and skills”.

On the other hand, the physician stressed the need for medical practitioner to focus on preventive wellness and other effective integrative lifestyle modalities that can fast track recovery.

Considering the health hazard associated with the consumption of GMO modified seeds and the use of inorganic fertiliser in planting, she advised that farmers should use organic seeds and organic fertiliser with over 80 nutrients to give consumers quality food that will nourish their bodies.

In addition, she criticised the idea of Nigerians focusing on symptoms and signs of societal challenges, adding “We may be aware of critical thinking sustainable solutions, but some of us do not have the determination and discipline to commit to the solutions on a consistent and continuous manner. We are mostly wired for quick fix.

“As a society We organise workshops , seminars , summits.

We have the false belief that talking means we are at least doing something. There are so many great ideas wasting away in shelves and not implemented for a better society

“We fail to understand that without personal development we cannot have capable and competent leadership quality citizenship and societal development .

Our current leaders have not recognised the importance of encouraging themselves and Nigerian citizens to invest in personal growth like the Growth mindset and integrative lifestyle and other personal development programmes .

“They miss the huge impact the quality of individuals have on families, communities and societies.’’
