ASUU To Embark On Protests Over Dismissal Of LASU Lecturers.

In a bold move, the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) Lagos Zone is set to hold a solidarity rally today to protest the controversial dismissal of five lecturers from the Lagos State University (LASU).

The lecturers, who were abruptly let go, have vehemently denied the allegations leveled against them, citing unfair treatment and a lack of due process.

The rally, scheduled to commence at 10 am, aims to bring attention to the plight of the affected lecturers and condemn the university’s actions, which ASUU has described as “illegal” and “vindictive.”

The union is standing firm in its support for the dismissed lecturers, who include the former chairman and vice chairman of ASUU LASU.
This is not the first time LASU has faced criticism for its handling of staff matters.

In 2019, the university management dismissed several ASUU members, citing allegations of misconduct.

However, the union has consistently maintained that these dismissals were unfair and targeted at silencing dissenting voices.

By holding this rally, ASUU is sending a strong message to the university administration and the wider academic community that it will not stand idly by while the rights of its members are trampled upon. The union is demanding justice for the dismissed lecturers and calling for their immediate reinstatement.

As the academic community comes together to show solidarity with the affected lecturers, one thing is clear: the fight for fairness, justice, and academic freedom is far from over.
