NFF Tech. Director, Eguavoen Denies Reports Of Stepping Down As Super Eagles Coach

In a recent media chat at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja, Austin Eguavoen, the Technical Director of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), has vehemently denied reports of stepping down as the interim coach of the Super Eagles.

Eguavoen’s statement comes after the team’s recent matches against Benin Republic and Rwanda in the 2025 AFCON qualifiers.

Eguavoen, who led the Super Eagles to a convincing 3-0 win over Benin Republic and a goalless draw against Rwanda, expressed his disappointment at the spread of false information. He emphasized that he remains in charge of the team and is committed to leading them to success in the upcoming AFCON qualifiers against Libya.

The 59-year-old coach clarified that he had only discussed the need for a review of the team’s strategy with the NFF hierarchy after the two games, but this was misinterpreted as him stepping down.

Eguavoen reassured fans and stakeholders that he is fully dedicated to his role and is working tirelessly to ensure the Super Eagles’ success.

This development puts to rest speculations about Eguavoen’s departure and allows the team to focus on their upcoming challenges with renewed confidence and stability.
