NNPC Reveals Prices For Dangote Petrol

In a significant development, the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPC) has revealed the estimated pump prices for petrol obtained from the Dangote Refinery. The prices, which vary by region, are set to take effect across NNPC retail stations nationwide.

Here’s a breakdown of the prices by region:

  • Far north (e.g., Borno State): up to N1,019 per liter.
  • Abuja, Sokoto, Kano, and surrounding areas: N999.22 per liter.
  • Oyo, Rivers, and other southern regions: N960 per liter.
  • Lagos and its environs: N950 per liter (the lowest price point).

NNPC spokesperson Olufemi Soneye emphasized that these prices are not set by the government but are instead negotiated directly between parties at arm’s length, in line with the Petroleum Industry Act.

The NNPC also clarified that the product loaded on Sunday was paid for in dollars, with naira transactions set to commence on October 1, 2024.

If the quoted pricing is disputed, the NNPC has pledged to pass on any discounts from the Dangote Refinery to the general public.

This announcement follows a disagreement between the NNPC and Dangote Group over pricing, with the latter previously disputing the NNPC’s claim of a N898 per liter price point.
