Africa’s Positive Progress Deserves Global Recognition, Says AfDB President

Dr. Akinwumi Adesina, President of the African Development Bank Group, has urged international media to offer a more nuanced portrayal of Africa.

Speaking to a gathering of more than 300 media leaders at the All Africa Media Leaders’ Summit in Kenya, he pointed out that despite noteworthy advancements across the continent, these successes are frequently eclipsed by persisting negative depictions.

Highlighting Africa’s economic performance, Dr. Adesina underscored that with 11 of the world’s 20 fastest-growing economies in 2023 located in Africa, the continent’s development journey is a story that merits attention and acknowledgment on the global stage.
