AKTC Bus Hijacked, Driver And 18 Passengers Kidnapped By Gunmen In Broad Daylight

In a brazen and terrifying incident, gunmen hijacked an Akwa Ibom State Transport Company (AKTC) bus and kidnapped the driver and 18 passengers along the Azumini axis, a boundary town between Akwa Ibom and Abia states.

The incidental occurrence has been sending shockwaves of fear and uncertainty throughout the region.

According to eyewitnesses, the bus was traveling from the Uyo terminal, passing through Iwukem in the Etim council area, when it was ambushed by the gunmen.

The victims were forced to disembark and taken into the bush, their whereabouts currently unknown.

The Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Timfon John, confirmed the incident and assured that an investigation is underway.

“Yes, that incident happened along Azumini axis of the road after Etim Ekpo local government area. All I can say is that the Police is still monitoring the situation now,” he said.
This incident has raised concerns about the safety and security of passengers traveling through the region.

The authorities must take swift and decisive action to ensure the safe release of the kidnapped victims and bring the perpetrators to justice.

The people demand justice and security, and it is the responsibility of the authorities to deliver it.
