Atiku Urges UN, ICC To Hold Tinubu Accountable For Protester Killings Amid Protests

In a scathing condemnation of the Nigerian government’s handling of the ongoing #EndBadGovernance protests, former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has called on the international community to intervene and hold President Bola Tinubu’s administration accountable for the brutal suppression of peaceful demonstrators.

Atiku’s plea for global intervention comes on the heels of a devastating report by Amnesty International Nigeria, which revealed that at least 13 protesters have been killed by security operatives since the protests began.

The former Vice President described the use of live ammunition on unarmed protesters as “utterly intolerable” and reminiscent of the dark days of military dictatorship in Nigeria.

Atiku’s statement, released yesterday, vehemently condemned the government’s actions, saying, “I urge the international community, including the United Nations and the International Criminal Court, to closely monitor the situation in Nigeria and hold its leadership and security apparatus accountable.”

He further emphasized the need for protesters to remain peaceful and avoid violence, while also urging President Tinubu to take immediate action to address the grievances of the Nigerian people.

Atiku’s call for global intervention has sparked widespread attention, with many Nigerians and international observers calling for an end to the brutal crackdown on protesters.

The situation continues to unfold, with tensions escalating between the government and protesters demanding an end to economic hardship and better governance.

As the international community watches closely, Atiku’s plea for intervention has brought renewed attention to the crisis, with many calling for accountability and an end to the violence.
