Brazil Mourns, 61 Lives Lost In Plane Crash, 3-Day Mourning Declared

A tragic plane crash in Brazil’s Sao Paulo state has claimed the lives of 61 people, leaving no survivors.

The ATR 72-500 aircraft, operated by Voepass airline, was traveling from Cascavel to Sao Paulo’s Guarulhos international airport when it crashed in the city of Vinhedo.

The cause of the accident is currently under investigation by Brazil’s CENIPA aviation agency, with the plane’s black box already recovered.

Eyewitnesses described the crash as “terrifying,” with one witness, Nathalie Cicari, recounting the moment she saw the plane spinning out of control before impact.

Another witness, Ricardo Rodrigues, reported seeing multiple bodies on the ground.

President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva has declared three days of mourning in response to the tragedy.

The crash has sent shockwaves across the country, with many taking to social media to express their condolences.

The plane, which was manufactured in 2010, had been operating without any flight restrictions, according to Voepass.

The airline has pledged to cooperate fully with authorities to determine the cause of the accident and provide assistance to the families of the victims.
