Chidimma Adetshina Narrates Journey To Miss Universe Nigeria

In a heartwarming tale of resilience and determination, Chidimma Adetshina, the newly crowned Miss Universe Nigeria, has shared her poignant experience of being rejected from the Miss South Africa beauty pageant due to her Igbo name.

“I felt unaccepted by South Africans because of my Igbo name,” Chidimma revealed in an emotional interview with Silverbird TV. “People were not happy that my name is Chidimma and I am representing South Africa.” She described the ordeal as “horrible and heartbreaking.”

Despite being born in South Africa, Chidimma proudly embraces her Nigerian heritage, stating, “I am proudly Nigerian… I have lived there for 23 years and it’s heartbreaking to see that I wasn’t welcomed and accepted.”
