DSS Arrests Protest Leader Michael Lenin In Abuja

In a move that has sparked widespread concern, the Department of State Services (DSS) has arrested Michael Lenin, a prominent leader of the ongoing #EndBadGovernance protests in Abuja.

Lenin, the National Coordinator of the Youth Rights Campaign, was taken into custody at his home in the Apo area of Abuja around 2am today.

According to reports, DSS agents raided Lenin’s residence and allegedly assaulted him during the arrest.

The DSS spokesperson, Peter Afunanya, was unavailable for comment.

Lenin had been a vocal critic of President Bola Tinubu’s handling of the protests, describing his recent national address as “disconnected from the country’s current realities.”

Despite his arrest, Lenin has urged Nigerians to intensify their participation in the protests, calling for a nationwide demonstration today, Monday, August 5.

The arrest has sparked outrage among protesters and human rights activists, who have demanded Lenin’s immediate and unconditional release.

The development comes amid growing tensions between the government and protesters, who are demanding an end to economic hardship and better governance.
