FG, ASUU Holds Meeting To Avert Nationwide Strike

In a bid to avert an impending nationwide strike, the Federal Government and the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) have commenced a crucial meeting in Abuja.

The union’s threat of industrial action stems from the government’s alleged failure to address pressing demands, including enhanced welfare packages, improved university funding, and a halt to the proliferation of universities.

As the meeting gets underway, Minister of Education Tahir Mamman offers a glimmer of hope, assuring that most of the contentious issues are being addressed.

He reveals that some of the demands will be resolved by Monday, demonstrating the government’s commitment to finding a lasting solution.

Mamman appeals to ASUU to approach the negotiations with an open mind and consider the interests of all parties involved. This gesture acknowledges the union’s concerns while also recognizing the government’s efforts to address the lingering issues.

As the nation holds its breath, the outcome of this meeting will determine the fate of Nigeria’s academic calendar.

Will the FG and ASUU find common ground, or will the strike proceed? Only time will tell.
