Warri – The Federal government has flagged off construction of 250 housing units in Ekpan, Uvwie local government in Delta state under its Renewed Hope Cities and Estates Programme of the Federal Ministry of Housing and Urban Development.

At the ground groundbreaking ceremony at the site the Honourable Minister of Housing and Urban Development, Arc Ahmed Musa Dangiwa charged the contractors to deliver the houses to approved specification within the timeline of three months.

He further thanked governor Sheriff Oborevwori of Delta state for donating the vast land at no cost for the housing estate, adding that the various apartments were designed in such a way that occupants could further partition the rooms to fit their needs.

“This estate comprises 50 units of 1-bedroom semi-detached bungalows, 150 units of 2-bedroom semi-detached bungalows, and 50 units of 3-bedroom semi-detached bungalows.

“We have designed these housing units in a way that make them affordable for people to acquire by using organic designs to allow for future expansion as the income of beneficiaries increases. This means that a 1-bedroom unit can be expanded to 2 bedrooms, and a 2-bedroom unit can also be expanded to 3 bedrooms as the owner’s financial situation improves or their family grows.”

Governor Sheriff Oborevwori who was represented by the Deputy Governor Sir Monday Onyeme thanked the federal government for including the state among the first beneficiaries of the housing scheme, assuring that his administration will continue to promote values of common good.

“We are grateful to the Federal Government for including our state among the thirteen states for the commencement of the Renewed Hope Housing Estate Project. It was without hesitation that I approved this land measuring 25 Hectares for this laudable project. I pledged to give our people meaningful development .”

Prince Sam Ogrih Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, MD/CEO, Goodnews Creative Ideas Limited, who also spoke thanked the federal government for bringing the project to the state and governor Oborevwori for the land donated.

He assured that the houses would be delivered to specification.
