A devastating fire outbreak has wreaked havoc in the Afor Nnobi Market situated near the Nnobi Roundabout in Idemili South Local Government Area of Anambra State, Nigeria. The incident, which occurred on Wednesday, led to the destruction of two shops, engulfing a significant amount of merchandise, including household items and clothing, all valued at millions of Naira.
The Anambra Fire Service, responding promptly to a distress call received at 7:52 am, deployed firefighters and a fire truck from the Nnewi Fire Station to the scene. Under the direction of the Chief Fire Officer, Engr. Chukwudi Emmanuel Chiketa, the team managed to contain and extinguish the blaze, preventing further damage to the market and its surroundings.

“The cause of the fire was suspected to be a power surge in one of the affected shops,” stated Engr. Chukwudi Emmanuel Chiketa, emphasizing the potential for such disasters to be averted with proper precautions. He further reassured that no lives were lost due to the fire incident, the damage was localized to about two shops.
